Spey
FISHMORVERN now organises three-day Salmon Fly
Fishing Courses on the Middle Spey.
Courses are for a maximum of six people who we
split into two groups of three, one group being
taught, the other practicing or fishing. The itinerary
can be tailored to your experience and needs.
Our Standard Course however includes the following
:-
Introductory Talk, Wading, Tackle and Equipment,
Rigging up, Basic casting with double-handed Rod,
Roll casting, Single Spey casting, "Reading
the River", Flies and their presentation,
Fishing with a single handed rod, Hooking a fish,
Playing and Landing a fish ( both if we are lucky
! ), Fishing with a sinking line, Debrief, and
video analysis.
Courses are run from 0900 to 1700 with lunch
normally at 1300.
Price for a Three day Course, including
three nights B&B ( based on two sharing )
at the famous Dowans Hotel in Aberlour is £540
per person. If accommodation is not required,
please contact FISHMORVERN and a suitable reduction
will be arranged.
Limited Spaces on these Courses are now
available for 23 to 25 July 2007 and 26 to 28
July 2007.

1. Individual casting Instruction
- £25 per hour
2. One day Fly Fishing Course
This basic course offers an introduction to fly
fishing for Salmon
and Trout. Topics covered include Introduction
to species, Tackle and techniques, Casting
Demonstration & Instructions, Fly selection,
Safety and the Law and a detailed debrief.
This course is ideal for the beginner to the
sport, and is also popular with children and their
parents.
Cost for the Course is £100 per day
- No additional charge for parent and child groups
of two.
3. Two day Fly Fishing Course
Following on from the itinerary of the one day
course, this course also includes "Reading
the River/ Loch", Advanced techniques, Introduction
to Roll and Spey casting, debrief with video analysis.
FISHMORVERN will present each Course member with
a photograph to remember their stay.
Cost for the 2 day Course is £200,
and as above Parent & child are charged as
1 person
Tackle Required
FISHMORVERN will happily lend you all the fishing
tackle that you require for the courses. In order
to facilitate a smooth transition from tuition
to day to day fishing on your own however, we
encourage you to bring your own rod, reel and
line etc. Warm and waterproof clothing is advisable
for all locations, and if coming to the Spey,
Chest Waders and a wading stick are essential.
